Birthday at the Beach

Elias turned 35 on the 3rd.  To celebrate {and use up vacation hours that we never use} he took the day off.  We woke up that morning and decided we would head out to Point Lookout to go swimming.  We don't get to go here a lot {this was actually Elias' first time} because the price is so steep for a family of our size, on the weekend anyway.  Weekends & holidays in season {spring-fall} cost a whopping $5.00 a person, which adds up when there are 6 of us :/  But it just so happens that on week-days {and his birthday fell on a Friday} it is a super affordable $3.00 per car...there is quite the price difference.

We love this beach, it's small like all of them in southern Maryland, but it's on the Chesapeake, it's clean, has trees and picnic tables very close to the beach {we were actually able to set our blanket up in the shade which is awesome with a baby in tow}, there are real bathrooms & showers to rinse off with before leaving.

We had a great morning, were able to spend a good amount of
time there before it got to hot, no one was overly sun burnt :) and we all had a blast--the water was a fantastic temperature...not to warm, not too cool :) Owen taught himself to swim under water & Oliver LOVES the water...you'll see :) He would have took off swimming if it were up to him (who needs mom and dad to keep you afloat?) & loved dunking his face in the water (there's a video at the end of the post).

This post makes me think of those summer days at the beach when you were younger. It also was so much fun!
