Days 3-5....Maryland

Here is the second part of our trip...to Maryland. We really liked it down there, even though the weather was cold and wet for most of it (it got really nice the day we left, of course). The first day we went to Piney Point, MD to see the lighthouse, which we got to climb, the kids (and Jenna) thought that was great...I did too :) Then we spent some time on the really small beach, most of the area was private beaches, and beside the freezing wind we spent a good hour there looking for shells and rocks (they had beautiful rocks there). After Elias got out of work we tried to find Calvert Cliffs State Park, which was a mess, mapquest sent us to a nuclear plant ??? When we did find it we found out that it was 1.9 mile hike in, which is a long way with three little kids and it was late, we tried, but ended up turning back. We will try again next time we go. The next day we went to lunch with Elias' boss and others from his work (they really wanted to meet us...no pressure) they were all really nice. Then Jenna, the Kids, and I went to Historic St. Mary's City. It is a colonial town, est. 1634 that is rebuilt and has some original structures, with people reenacting the village people (not the "Village People") :) It was really cool, the kids especially loved going on the ship. After work we went to Point Lookout, MD (more pictures of that to come, my camera ran out of batteries) which is supposedly haunted, it used to be a prisoner of war camp (for civil war?) thankfully we didn't see any ghosts, but we did see the light house and spend some time on the beach.
On Thursday we headed home, with a stop at the temple first, It was beautiful, have pictures of that coming soon too. Then we drove and drove and drove, it took 13 long hours to get home (counting stopping at the temple). It was a great trip.
