A Visitor...

On the way out to the bus stop this morning we met with a visitor in our driveway...(he was actually in the pan that I had put outside last night b/c I had burnt sausages & it was smoking up the house...eating leftover bits of gross grease) anyway...I snapped a pic with my cell phone (which I have no way of getting it off now) and we headed off to the bus stop. Owen was sad when we got back & the turtle was no longer in the pan...so we went on a turtle hunt & found him...Owen was fascinated, we followed him around a little bit...& Owen thought it was great when it crawled over his shoe.  Eventually the turtle went and hid in the bushes around a tree & we fed it a couple cherry tomatoes...which it loved & we watched it eat for a little bit...Now to convince him it's not a pet...

On a side note we had another visitor...& I have to document the story, so I can embarrass some kids later in life :D

On Monday..neighbor kids are over playing, when Hailey comes SCREAMING & crying into the house "I don't want my brother to die!!!" I run out of the house, thinking that he has been bit by a rattle snake or something tragic.  I find Owen with his pants around his ankles and everyone (including the neighbor kids) pointing at his business & telling me there is a tick (in a very bad place)...apparently Owen can't take the time (or has the modesty) to come inside to use the bathroom...
I bring him inside & try to get it out...Hailey is still freaking out (even though I had reassured her about a thousand times that he was going to be okay).  In the end I couldn't get it out, and he made a trip with dad to ready care (which of course, they got it out with no problem)...He will have a check up with his doctor, but he is fine...and Hailey is still a little freaked out about ticks. :D

Are you guys still in school? When do they get out? Cute turtle! I get freaked out about ticks also because one year while visiting family in VA my Dad found a tick on the back of my ear. I freaked out and asked if I was going to be okay. He said, "We'll know in the morning.". I cried myself to sleep wondering if that was going to be my last night. LOL! My Dad feels really bad about that now. =)

I love the turtle! I'm like Owen, I'd like to keep it as a pet. :)

It's so funny you mention ticks. Last week the kids and I spent a lot of time on youtube looking up videos of ticks because Megan thought she had one on her leg, (it was only a dried scab)and was paranoid. I'm glad you guys got it out. They are nasty little things.
