Cherry Blossom Festival & A Trip to the National Zoo

We had a big day on Saturday...we decided to go see the cherry blossoms (which were beautiful)...had lunch under a cherry tree & had fun browsing the Tulip Library. Then we let the kids choose if they wanted to go to a museum or the zoo...they choose the zoo. It was busy & we dealt with metro craziness (it was soooo busy of course..but I would rather take the metro than drive)---plus the crazy long escalator at the Woodley Park/Zoo station was broken---so we had to climb it :( it's 204 feet long/tall. Then had a great time looking at all the animals---seeing all the ones we missed last time & the kids "enjoyed" a snow cone (that was kinda nasty & ended up getting thrown away).
It was a really fun & tiring day...that we got to top off with a quick trip to Ikea--where we got a tree swing for the kids...can't wait to hang it up :) **I didn't take this pic....found it online :)

Sounds like you all had fun! And from your photos it looks like the weather was great! (all those steps might have done me in, you sis say how you all did going up)
